How to Survive a Long Flight
While getting to the destination is exciting, getting on that long haul flight is sometimes the most dreaded part of your trip, especially when you don't have enough miles to redeem for [goals] business class lay flat seats.
As frequent fliers, here are some of our favorite recommendations for how to survive those long haul flights, even when you're in economy.
Hydrate - Jet lag isn't just because of time change, altitude and dehydration also contribute. Be sure you're staying hydrated before, during, and after your flight so you're ready to hit the ground running.
Eye mask - You know the one, that tiny red light is the most annoying thing ever! Black out all the light so you can get some rest.
Ear plugs or good noise cancelling headphones - Whether it's the beverage cart rolling by, people chatting, a crying baby, or just the sound of the plane, anything can disturb your sleep, so it's best to drown it all out.
Compression socks - Because your feet and legs will swell, and they will get sore once you land.
Airplane Pockets - Keep everything accessible without stuffing it in the gross seat back pocket.
Foot sling - Elevate your feet, especially if you're flying in economy to help get a little more comfortable (you do need a seat in front of you for this to work).
(please note that some airlines have restrictions on items that attach to seats and windows so it's best to check on their specific policies before your flight)
Hydrating facial - Get zen and keep your skin hydrated by doing a little facial on the plane. DO NOT USE ANY PRODUCTS FOR THE FIRST TIME WHILE ON THE PLANE! There have been some horror stories about people experiencing an allergic reaction and we don't want this happening to you!
Hand sanitizer - It doesn't have to be the fancy one, although there is a reason it's viral, but just bring some with you.
Cords and portable chargers - You'll want to have a fully charged phone when you land!
AirFly - Love your wireless headphones but hate that they can't connect to the seat back entertainment? Now they can!
Nasal sticks - Combat all those intense plane smells and motion sickness.
Small bag to keep everything you want within reach - We love traveling with an extra tote bag to keep essentials under our seat without having a huge bag taking up all your leg room.
